New York Public Library for the Performing Arts
Bruno Walter Auditorium
The Library for Performing Arts is one of four research centers in NYPL’s library system and houses an extensive collection of music, film, and theater materials. The collection includes recordings, videotapes, photographs, and manuscripts. The space provides areas to both view and listen to archival materials such as interviews with notable theater professionals or historic footage from the film and video collection.
The 202-seat Bruno Walter Auditorium hosts a variety of events, including concerts, dance performances, readings, audio/video presentations in a variety of formats, as well as private events. Upgrades to both the stage and house lighting in the auditorium, as well as some exterior lighting upgrades, will be completed in order to draw visitors to the library and improve its overall visibility and functionality.
